Condado Beach . . .

I've reserved a hotel room for after my October cruise on the Caribbean Princess in San Juan, Puerto Rico . . . the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino . . . directly on Condado Beach . . . it will be wonderful to have an ocean view suite and to fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore . . . I've heard this used to be the old Diplomat Hotel property that caught fire many years ago . . . can anyone confirm this? . . . I have not been able to find any information on the web re. this statement . . . will let you know how the hotel rates after my stay . . .

The Condado Beach area was once home to the luxurious residences of the wealthy. Private villas gave way to high-rise hotels and resorts, restaurants, and nightclubs after the construction of the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Ashford and Magdalena avenues became prominent or high end boutiques like Louis Vuitton and Cartier. The beach area also became the center of gay life in San Juan . . .
