Table Setting . . .

Setting the perfect table is an art. But an art that is easy to perfect. No matter how well prepared the meal; do not forget the table presentation. It is a key to a successful dinner party. In this article are some tips on setting a table for a formal dinner party.
Above is a diagram outlining the placement of china, cutlery and stemware for a formal dinner. When choosing a china pattern the recommendation is to have more white than pattern in the design. This provides you with more decorating choices in respects to dinner themes and table linens. A china service too busy with pattern sometimes limits your choice. Use luncheon plates or accent plates if you must have pattern. They can be easily interchanged.
What makes a memorable dinner is an artistic center piece. It should ground the theme and be a focal point on the table. Bit it should never be overpowering. Here is an excellent example.

Linens are the foundation of any table setting. Consider colours and fabrics that mirror the theme for an overall unifying effect. Stylish napkin folds add the crowning touch. Below are some napkin folding examples.

The dinner pictured below was to celebrate a birthday party last Christmas Eve. "Pretty in Pink" was the theme. Notice the combination of charger plate, china and pink dessert plate to anchor the pink theme. Party treats and favors also carried the pink theme even further. Silver cutlery and chargers, white china and crystal stemware along with faux diamonds gave the table that extra sparkle. The dinner and party were a success. All who attended had a wonderful evening.

Invite some friends over and host a dinner party with a theme . . . you will be surprised at the fun you and your guests will have . . .
